Burial will be in Eureka City Cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Emil died March 4, 2013, at Hosmer Senior Citizens Home in Hosmer.
Emil Henry Matz, son of Henry and Emma (Klipfel) Matz, was born Feb. 23, 1936, at Steele, N.D. As a child, he lived with family in Lodi, Calif., for a short time, returning to live in Forbes, N.D., Aberdeen, Claremont, and Hosmer. In 1966, he moved to Eureka, where he worked for Eureka Equity Exchange at the feed mill and elevator.
He was united in marriage to Sandra Trautman on June 2, 1984, at the Methodist Church parsonage. Emil was injured while working at the elevator that led to his retirement in 1996.
When Emil was younger, he enjoyed fishing. He liked to service his own vehicles and do word search puzzles. He was a member of Eureka United Methodist Church.
Emil is survived by his wife, Sandra of Eureka; three daughters: Tamara (Tim) Paulsen of Aberdeen, Barbara (Kevin) Nehlich of Watertown and Cindy (Chris) Whipps of Eau Claire, Wis.; one son, Timothy (Darla) Matz of Grand Junction, Kan.; one brother, Harold (Rosie) Matz of Acampo, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
His parents; one brother, Marvin; and one sister, Jean Green, preceded him in death.
Casketbearers will be Charles Neuharth, Jerry Bossert, Allen Adam, Arnie Fauth, Lloyd Dais and Perry Thompson.
