Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary, with a liturgical wake service and rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before Mass at the church on Friday. Friends may sign his online guestbook at schriversmemorial.com.
Anthony passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.
Anthony Francis Young was born Nov. 5, 1928, to Frank Joseph and Marian (Hoegele) Young in Isabel. Tony was raised and attended country school in the Isabel area before the family moved to Aberdeen in 1936. He then attended and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School with the class of 1946. Tony moved to the Black Hills area, where he was employed as an insurance agent for a number of years, before relocating to Oregon and continuing in the insurance business. In 1997, Tony moved back to Aberdeen, where he continued to reside until the time of his death.
Tony enjoyed dancing, riding horses and working in his vegetable garden. While living in Oregon, he also became an avid deep-sea fisherman. He was an exceptional cook by adding special touches to original recipes.
Surviving Tony are his brothers: John Young of Aberdeen and Richard Young of Portland, Ore.; his sisters: Evelyn Hagen of Aberdeen, Mary Gutzwiller of Tampa, Fla.; two granddaughters: Lacie Young of Ore., and Olivia Young of California; and 19 nieces and nephews.
Tony's parents; one son, Anthony Jr.; four brothers: Francis, Leo, Eugene and Phillip Young; and two sisters: Florence Brickey and Catherine Hagan, preceded him in death.
