Robert William Sieber was born Jan. 22, 1943, in Aberdeen. At age 4, the family moved to a tin farm near Columbia. He earned money by farming, trapping and running the first backhoe in Brown County. He graduated from Columbia High School with the class of 1961, receiving awards in athletics and chorus. In 1961, he entered the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged on 1965. In 1966, he went to work for Safeguard, retiring in 2004. In 1972, he married Belle Rae Hanson at Columbia. They made their home west of Houghton until 1980, when they built a house on a 40-acre hobby farm northeast of Aberdeen, where they raised two sons. In 1996, they moved to Mina Lake, where he was living at the time of his death.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He was an active member of the Brown County Fair Board for six years and was a 4-H leader. He was known as a great storyteller, bringing a smile to everyone's face.
