Marion Bertsch, 92, Eureka, died Friday, May 31, 2013, at the Avera Eureka Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Lien-Straub Funeral Chapel, Eureka, with Pastor Gary Bergman leading the service. Burial follows at the Eureka Cemetery.
Visitation will begin 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Marion Josephine Heiser, daughter of Pauline (Lutz) and Edward Heiser, was born in Greenway on Oct. 25, 1920. She was educated in rural schools. Marion married Alvin Bertsch in Greenway on Oct. 24, 1943. They settled on a farm north of Eureka. In the mid-1970s, they moved into Eureka. Mr. Bertsch died on Oct. 3, 1995. Marion continued living in Eureka until June 2007, when she moved into the healthcare center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eureka. Her hobbies included knitting and stitching.
Marion is survived by one brother, Willis Heiser, of Aberdeen; one sister, Dorothy Berreth, of Aberdeen; one grandson, Todd (Sara) Schumacher, of Shakopee, Minn.; two great-granddaughters, Brooklyn and Karlie; her son-in-law, David Schumacher, of Shakopee; and two sisters-in-law: Phyllis Huber of Wishek, N.D., and Irene Brockel of Mandan, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Sylvia Schumacher; and two brothers, Salvadore and Marvin.
Casketbearers will be her grandson, Todd; her son-in-law, David; and Arlo Bertsch of Eureka.
