Glennice was born on Oct. 5, 1935, at Elgin, N.D., to Clarence and Emilia (Albrecht) Kom. She attended school in Elgin until the family moved to Mobridge in 1944. After graduation from Northwestern Lutheran Academy in 1953, Glennice furthered her education and graduated from the National School of Business in Rapid City.
For the next 10 years, Glennice and her two friends, Joyce Hawick and Joyce Salle, traveled and worked in Minneapolis, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla., and Oakland, Calif. Glennice eventually returned to South Dakota and came to Aberdeen in 1969. In Aberdeen, she worked for and retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 1992.
Glennice was united in marriage to Wilbert Walth on April 2, 1975, in Aberdeen. For many, many years Wilbert and Glennice's home was the "hub" of the Kom and Walth families. All of their grandchildren and nieces and nephews have wonderful memories of the fun times spent at their home. Their door was always open and even if they weren't home their door was still always open. Glennice was a good listener and had a great sense of humor.
Wilbert and Glennice had a "fish house" in Mobridge. He enjoyed fishing and she enjoyed walking around the town and visiting with old friends.
Glennice was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church for many years. Her faith was the most important part of her life.
Glennice is survived by her husband, Wilbert; two stepsons: Bill (Monda) Walth of Sioux Falls, Gary Walth of Sunnyvale, Calif.; two stepdaughters: Cindy (Mitch) DuRae of Omaha, Neb., Lori (Doug) Eaton of Rochester, Minn.; four sisters: Hertha Blumhardt of Bowdle, Lila (Curtiss) Wockenfuss, Ceniva Kom, and Charlene (William) Stewart, all of Aberdeen; five brothers: Harvey (Berniece) Kom of Orofino, Idaho, Marlow (Carol) Kom of Woodbury, Minn., Dr. Carlton Kom of Aberdeen, the Rev.
