Born Sept. 25, 1924, in Aberdeen to parents L. B. and Amelia Geisler. She grew up surrounded by a loving family. A graduate of Central High in Aberdeen, her education included academic and music honors, including recognition and appreciation from the 1028th Air Service Group at Hill Field, Utah, as well as the University of Colorado, where her first husband received his medical degree.
She was selected school Snow Queen her senior year in high school and worked as a model for Bullocks in southern California as her husband established his new career as a physician and surgeon in California. She met many movie stars as a model that she remained friends with for the rest of her life. Married in 1947 at Aberdeen's Methodist Church to Dr. Robert C. DeWeese Jr.; they raised three boys and a daughter.
Phyllis is survived by her Aberdeen resident sister, Donna Lou Ganje; her daughter, Annette Wurth; and her three sons: Lon, Lew and Scott, who all live in Reno, Nev. She has and loved her four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Phyllis loved her family, and delighted in spending time with them. Her family, and relatives - as well as her many friends - were the focus of her long and eventful life.
Services will be held Wednesday, June 19, at noon at the Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, Calif.
She will be interned with her loving husband, Robert, who predeceased her in 1975, at Cherokee Memorial.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donors to send contributions to the Aberdeen Methodist Church or the Disabled American Veterans.
Phyllis will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
