Joseph "Joey" John Reis

Aberdeen: Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph "Joey" John Reis, 47, of Aberdeen will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Shane Stevens will officiate.

 Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.

 There will be a Liturgical Wake and Rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday with visitation from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

 Joseph was called to Heaven on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, with his dachshund companion, Daisy Mae, at his side in Fallon, Mont.

 Joseph John Reis, son of Carrol and Regina (Heier) Reis was born Oct. 4, 1965, at St Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen. At 8 months of age, he started school at School of Hope and continued his education and graduated in 1987 from Lincoln School in Aberdeen. Joey was a dedicated and hard worker. He was currently employed by Harms Oil and Aspire.

 Joey was an active member of Sacred Heart Church. He thoroughly enjoyed trips to Minneapolis to watch the Twins play and was also a fan of the Minnesota Vikings. He participated in the Special Olympics receiving numerous medals. He also enjoyed bowling, polka music, dancing and playing the Wii. His hobby at Christmas time was collecting nutcrackers. His love of family and anticipation of the next family gathering was second to none.

 Joey was a true inspiration to everybody and was the heart of the family. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He has left a footprint on the heart of everyone he touched with his sweet smile, warm hug, handshake or even a kiss.

 Joey is survived by his parents, Carrol and Regina Reis of Aberdeen; four sisters: Julia (Tim) Marzenell, Jo Ann (Bill) Daschle, Judy (Ross) Graf all of Aberdeen and Joyce (Myron) Underberg of Fallon, Mont.; two brothers: Jeff (Tammy) Reis of Virginia Beach, Va. and Jerry Reis of Sioux Falls; four nieces; nine nephews; nine great-nieces; and three great-nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

 Casketbearers will be his siblings: Julia Marzenell, Jo Ann Daschle, Joyce Underberg, Judy Graf, Jeff Reis and Jerry Reis.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

 Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen have been entrusted with arrangements.
