Steven D. Heitmann

Hillsboro, N.D.:  Steven D. Heitmann, 61, Hillsboro, N.D., formerly of Ellendale, N.D., was born Oct. 19, 1951, in Aberdeen.

 He was the son of Harley D. and Lillie (Mayer) Heitmann. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Ellendale. Steve was raised and educated in Ellendale graduating from Ellendale high School. After his education he entered the United States Army. He was honorably discharged and returned to Ellendale. Later, he moved to Aberdeen where he worked various construction jobs. Steve moved to Fargo, N.D. and later to Hillsboro where he resided until his death Aug. 25, 2013, at Sanford Hospital, Hillsboro.

 Steve enjoyed watching sports, especially the Green Bay Packers and New York Yankees. He also enjoyed being outdoors and doing lawn care. Steve was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

 Survivors include his mother, Lillie Heitmann of Ellendale, N.D.; one brother, Jeff Heitmann, Ellendale, N.D.; two sisters: Susan (Tim) Robbins of Wind Lake, Wis., Kathy Mueller of Appleton, Minn.; two uncles: Frank Heitmann of Cogswell, N.D., Lyle Heitmann of Medford, Ore.; two nephews; one niece; and Steve's special friend, Melissa of Hillsboro.  

 He was preceded in death by his father Harley D. Heitmann.

 The memorial service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale, with Pastor Tom Eckstein officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the memorial service. Burial will be at a later date at Fort Meade, Sturgis. Arrangements by Hoven Funeral Chapel.
