Aberdeen: Mass of Christian burial for Arlene Ann Serfoss, 77, of Aberdeen will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 Third Ave. S.E., Aberdeen, with Father Jonathan Venner presiding. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
A liturgical wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at the mortuary. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the mortuary, and one hour prior to Mass at the church on Friday.
Arlene passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

Arlene Ann Kirchasler was born on June 18, 1936, in Aberdeen to Walter and Lydia (Schmidt) Kirchasler. She was raised and attended school in Aberdeen, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School with the class of 1953. Following graduation, Arlene moved to Minneapolis and began working for IDS Investors.
Arlene was united in marriage to Merle Serfoss on Feb. 28, 1960, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen. The couple continued to make their home in Minneapolis. Arlene retired from IDS following a 35-year career and in 1990, she and Merle moved back to Aberdeen, where in addition to being a homemaker, Arlene did volunteer work for St. Luke's Hospital and Social Services.
In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing and archery. She was also an avid bowler.
Blessed to have shared her life is her husband of 53 years, Merle Serfoss, of Aberdeen; one nephew, Mike Kirchasler; one great-niece; and one great-nephew.
Arlene's parents; one brother, Walter; and one nephew, Steve preceded her in death.
