Ella E. Fischer, daughter of John and Magdeline (Hirsch) Fischer, was born Jan. 5, 1919, on the Fischer family homestead five miles east of Herreid near Artas in Campbell County. This is where she grew up while attending country school. When Ella was 15 years old, she moved to the Red Bluff area of northern California. She held several jobs such as a waitress, cook and a glassblower.
She was united in marriage to William B. Wilson in 1949 at Herreid Baptist Church. He died suddenly of heart failure on March 16, 1952. Ella traveled the world and saw many countries and experienced many cultures. She was re-baptized in the Jordan River.
On July 28, 1962, Ella was united in marriage to Jack Moulton in California. She helped Jack run their real estate business for many years. They sold the real estate company to his sons and retired. Jack died July 20, 1989. Ella then moved to Eureka in 1996.
She enjoyed crocheting and playing cribbage. Ella loved to visit with people. She was a member of Eureka Baptist Church and a former member of Spring Creek Baptist Church, rural Herreid.
Ella is survived by one brother, Edwin (Lola) Fischer of Herreid; several Moulton stepsons from California and several step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, four brothers and five sisters.
Casketbearers will be Alton Bauer, Gary Fischer, Dennis Fischer, Jack Bieber, Stacey Fischer and Bill Fischer.
The organist will be Esther Grosz and special music by The Rev. Gary and Linda Bergman.
