Frank died Nov. 29, 2012, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

Frank was born July 22, 1944. He was the son of Marie (Nulle) and Les Rivett. He grew up in Aberdeen, graduating from Central High School with the class of 1962. He entered the U.S. Air Force, where he was a radar operator during the Vietnam War, serving in Pickstown and Alaska. He was honorably discharged in 1964 and returned to Aberdeen. He attended Northern State College and received his bachelor of science in education in 1971.

He was united in marriage to Dee Anne Minch on June 7, 1968, in First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen. During college, he worked at Railway Express unloading and delivering rail freight. He began teaching at Hub Area Vocational Center, where he taught for 12 years and during the summers, he was a Head Start teacher. In 1982, Frank began employment with Super 8 Motels Inc. as a quality assurance inspector and later became a motel developer in the U.S. and Canada. He retired in 2008.

Frank was always a teacher at heart and loved to teach hunting, archery and fishing to someone new. He was a very good friend and would help anyone in need, but foremost, Frank was a family man and the pride he had in his family was always visible on his face.

Frank was a member of Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post No. 24, Whitetail Bowmen Archery Club, Dacotah Territory Muzzleloaders, Prairie States Traditional Bowhunters and a life member of S.D. Bowhunters Association.

Frank is survived by his wife, Dee, of 44 years; daughter, Stephanie (Trent) Deyo of Aberdeen; son, Jason (Robyn) Zahn of Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Ted (Rebecca) Zahn of Aberdeen; stepbrother, Ron (Sharon) Rivett of Aberdeen; and four grandchildren: Meghan, Carter, Jake and Mitchell.

His parents and one brother, David, preceded him in death.

Honorary casketbearers will be Frank's many friends indoors and out.

Casketbearers will be Bill Sutton, Dallas Solberg, Gene Herr, Randy Mink, Scott Stewart and Harlow Peterson.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.

Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen has been entrusted with arrangements.
