Hilda Wahl

Mobridge: Funeral services for Hilda Wahl, 85, of Mobridge will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge.

 Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.

 Visitation will start at 5 p.m. Friday at the church, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

 Hilda passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at her home, where she was at peace.

 Hilda Wahl, daughter to William and Emma (Werre) Schneider, Hilda was born Oct. 26, 1927. As she grew up, she went to country grade school and graduated from Java High School. She went to Northern State College to get her teaching degree. She taught at Campbell, Walworth, and McPherson County schools for many years.

 Hilda married Merle E. Wahl on Sept. 8, 1950. They lived on the Wahl Homestead just 10 miles south of Mound City. When they retired from the farm, they moved to Mobridge, were they lived for 17 years. During those 17 years, Hilda worked at the Selby Nursing Home for several years. When she left there, she went to work at the Mobridge Nursing Home for awhile and then to Burger King as a greeter. After her various jobs, she dedicated her life to taking care of Merle and her home. In March 2012, they moved to Aberdeen on a small hobby farm with their son Eldon and Jane.

 Hilda loved to garden, go on trips, play cards, cook and bake for large groups. She was known for her homemade pickles and German cooking. She was a member of TLCW, which serves many missions throughout the community. She loved the Lord.

 Hilda is survived by her husband, Merle; son, Eldon (Jane Ohlde) Wahl; three brothers: Vernard (Ella) Schneider, Ervin (Babe) Schneider and Delbert (Joan) Schneider; two sisters: Meta Lang and Della (Leland) Berndt; two grandchildren: Chad Ohlde and Samantha  (John) Hettich; three great-grandchildren: Jason Ohlde, Taryn Hettich and and Nickolas Nilson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Emma Schneider; and one brother, Raymond Schneider.
