The funeral service for Barbara Hieb, 71, of Aberdeen is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 1500 E. Melgaard Road., Aberdeen, with the Rev. David Dawn officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery, Herreid, S.D. Barbara died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Sanford Medical Center, Sioux Falls.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen.
Barbara Seiler was born Dec. 16, 1941, at Eureka, S.D., to Joseph J. and Adeline (Olsen) Seiler. This is the area where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Herreid High School and then attended the Aberdeen School of Commerce. On April 26, 1967, she married Allen Sayler at Webster, S.D. They farmed north of Herreid and owned the John Deere dealerships in Linton and Wishek, N.D. Allen died April 22, 1999, in Aberdeen. Barb worked for the Campbell County Bank in Herreid for 40 years. After retiring in 2004, she moved to Aberdeen. On Jan. 12, 2005, she married Stanley Hieb in Aberdeen. They loved spending their winters in Arizona, and she became a very talented artist.
Barb was a member of First Reformed Church, Aberdeen. She was the organist at First Reformed Church in Herreid for many years. She loved the Lord and her family very much. They loved attending various social activities, including dinners, dancing and their grandchildren's events. Barb enjoyed attending auction sales, collecting antiques and collectibles and beautifully refinished many fine pieces of antique furniture. Barb really enjoyed meeting new people.
Grateful for having shared Barbara's life are her husband, Stanley Hieb, Aberdeen; children: Lynn (Shaun) Wanner, Groton, Jason (Sheila) Sayler, Des Moines, Iowa; stepchildren: Greg (Amy) Hieb, Sioux Falls, Stacy Hieb, Denver, Colo.; grandchildren: Andrew (Sara), Erin, Audrey and Eliza Wanner, Logan, Landon and Lauren Sayler, Joshua and Alyssa Goetz, Weston and Reagan Hieb; sister, Donna Heisler, Herreid, S.D.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Allen Sayler; and brother, Donald Seiler.
