Mass of Christian burial for Caroline Frances Hare, 89, of Aberdeen will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 Third Ave. S.E., Aberdeen, with Father Shaun Haggerty officiating. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the mortuary with a liturgical wake service and Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation continues for one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday.
Caroline passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

Caroline Frances Schoch was born on Aug. 21, 1923, to Ludwig and Kathrain (Gabriel) Schoch in Hosmer.
Caroline was united in marriage to Melvin "Pat" Hare on Jan. 21, 1945, in Lodi, Calif. In 1949, the couple moved to Aberdeen, where she attended Northern State College and majored in education. Caroline earned her bachelor of science degree in 1961 and a master of science degree in 1964 and then continued her education and became certified as a reading consultant and psychological examiner.
Her career in education began in 1959, teaching fourth grade for the Aberdeen School District. After five years, Caroline became a Title I reading teacher and psychological examiner for the district. She retired in 1987, but continued to help with the testing program for a number of years. She was the first retired teacher to be picked as Educator Plus by the American Education Association.
Following retirement, Caroline continued to remain active in the community. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Caroline enjoyed traveling extensively and spending time with her family and friends. Her greatest passion was reading and she was never without a book. Caroline and Pat shared over 32 years of marriage before he passed away on Feb. 22, 1977. She continued to make Aberdeen her home until the time of her death.
Blessed to have shared her life are her children: Patrick Hare of Campbellsport, Wis., Donna (Gerard) Roberts of Steamboat Springs, Colo., James (Linda) Hare of Wheat Ridge, Colo., Margaret (Tom) Guhin of Aberdeen, Kathy (David) Housel of Houston, Texas, and Bonnie (Dave) Feist of Cedar Falls, Iowa; her brothers: Hank (Ester) Schoch and Ludwig (Peggy) Schoch, both of Lodi, Calif.; one sister, Helen (Romaine) Kocer of Wagner; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
