Mound City: Adele Rubida was born Oct. 18, 1926, to Freda and Edward Opheim of Mound City and passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday morning, Nov. 6, 2012.

Adele graduated as valedictorian of the 1944 class of Glenham High School. After high school, she attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, where she received her bachelor's of science in education. During that time she met Ralph, her husband to be, at the grocery store he worked at. They began courting while she finished college and started her teaching career in Hot Springs, S.D. They married on June 28, 1949, and made their home in Vermillion, where Adele continued her teaching career in the Vermillion area. In 1960, they came to Java, S.D., where they began farming Adele's grandparents (George and Christina Bender's) homesteaded land, while Adele taught at Java High School for about 20 years. During this time they had 4 children: Susan, Alan, Roxane and Mark. In 1995, the couple retired in Mound City.

Memories of Adele are many, including how the family would enjoy fishing, hunting and hunting Indian artifacts along the Missouri River when it was legal. She loved to cook for holidays and family gatherings, and was always willing to help anyone. Her hobbies included genealogy research, needle work, reading and gardening. Adele and Ralph traveled extensively before having children. They traveled the United States and Alaska. While traveling, they would manage to find a scenic location to park and camp, while putting their belongings under the car, while they made the seats into their beds. Her outlook on life was always positive.

Adele was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and The Mound City Garden Club.

Adele is survived by her children: Susan (Larry) Kellar of Mound City, Alan (Diana) of Yuma, Ariz., Roxane (Perry) Schnaible of Sioux Falls, and Mark Jay Rubida of Java. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carol Wickham of Florida.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

Aberdeen: Patrick Henry Pearce "Harry" Lynch, 60, of Aberdeen passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, in the loving care of his family, North Plains Hospice staff and friends. Patrick's wishes were to be cremated privately and requested no services.

The family invites friends to an open house and a time of remembrance at his home at 1620 N. Harrison St., Aberdeen, from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may sign his online guestbook at schriversmemorial.com.

Patrick Henry Pearce "Harry" Lynch was born on June 18, 1952, in Virginia, Co. Cavan, Ireland, to Seamus and Mary (Leddy) Lynch. Following graduation from high school, he attended University College Dublin, Ireland, where he received his medical degree in 1976. While there, his interest focused on neurology, but a period of general practice in London, U.K., and New Foundland, Canada, came first. Patrick was accepted into the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio in 1986 to study neurology under the late Professor Maurice Victor. He continued his training, spending a fellowship year in Toronto, and when fully qualified, remained working there until he came to Aberdeen in 1992. Patrick retired on health grounds in 2006. He continued to make Aberdeen his home until the time of his death.

A major milestone came when he was granted U.S. citizenship in 2004 and could possess a U.S. passport.

Those who knew him can testify to his avid love of books, reading, music and travel. Many may have experience of his borderline driving and navigational skills, acquired late in life in Aberdeen, during many road trips across the U.S. and in Europe! His acceptance of all people and their circumstances without question was followed by a sharing of knowledge, conversation, lots of jokes, probably loud music and definitely food and beer.

Patrick is survived by his mother, Mary Lynch of Virginia, C. Cavan, Ireland; his three sisters: Dolores (Dan) Rowan, Fedelm (John) Broderick and Deirdre Lynch; nieces: Deirdre and Catherine; nephews: Raymond, Ciaran (Selena) and Killian; aunts: Jane, Brid and Margaret; uncle, Kevin; cousins, relatives and friends.

Patrick is preceded in death by his father, Seamus Lynch.

Patrick's family prefers memorials to Avera North Plains Hospice in lieu of flowers.
