Webster: Kenneth "Kenny" Sass, 67, of Webster died Wednesday, Jan, 9, 2013, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

 Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster.

 Burial will be in St. Otto's Catholic Cemetery.

 Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster, with a wake service at 7 p.m.

 Kenny was born on Oct. 4, 1945, in Webster to Leo and Angela (Gort) Sass. He attended rural country school near their home until the eighth grade. In 1963, he graduated from Webster High School. Following school, he entered the South Dakota National Guard, where he served for six years.

 After the passing of Kenny's father, Kenny returned to the family farm and farmed until his passing. In his spare time, Kenny enjoyed doing side jobs during the fall and winter months.

 Kenny was a member of the Herbert McKennett American Legion Post No. 40 of Webster, Cruising Classic Car Club, the Highland Township Board, and Christ The King Catholic Church.

 Kenny enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding snowmobile, driving his 67 Plymouth GTX, and spending time with his friends and family, especially his three granddaughters.

 Grateful for having shared his life is his son, Chris (Amy) Sass of Clark; three granddaughters: Olivia, Ella and Alayna; and his special friend, Jane Dargatz.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carolyn Neal.

 The memorial service for Lillian E. Millard, 96, of Aberdeen will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with Pastor Jeff Whillock officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Lillian died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Sanford Medical Center, Aberdeen.

 Lillian Ella Millard was born April 23, 1916, in Eureka to Gustave and Rosina (Schick) Libis. She grew up on the farm and went to school in Eureka.

 On Dec. 19, 1940, Lillian married Keith Millard in Huron. They both worked at the Lincoln Ranch in Columbia before moving to Aberdeen. Through the years, Lillian had several jobs, but devoted her life to raising their children and caring for her family. After Keith's death, she moved to Avera Retirement Community and remained there until her passing. Her family is grateful for the loving staff and the excellent care they gave her.

 Lillian was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the VFW Auxiliary and Women of the Moose.

 She will be remembered for her strong faith, love of family and her sense of humor. Lillian was a thoughtful, giving person and an excellent cook. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Steve (Lisa) Millard; her daughter, Brenda (Carl) Kline; one brother, Floyd (Lorene) Libis; two grandchildren: David (Beth) Kline, Tami (Lee) Hanson; five great-grandchildren: Connor, Mallory and Chase Hanson, Cameron and Jackson Kline; and granddog, Paisley; along with many nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Millard; parents, Gustave and Rosina Libis; four sisters; Alma Lafontaine, Evelyn Bieber, Irene Beck, and Lorene Ernst; and one brother, Clarence Libis.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Aberdeen Area Humane Society - PO Box 1013, Aberdeen, 57401-1013.

Garold 'Blackie' Engelhard

 Garold "Blackie" Engelhard, 84, passed away at home on Dec. 29, 2012.

 He was born Jan. 15, 1928, in Bowdle. He graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1946, enlisting in the military and serving three years at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii. Upon returning to Aberdeen, he attended Northern State Teachers College on the GI bill. Upon graduating from Northern, he taught three years at Herreid High School. He married Jeanette Zick on Oct. 20, 1955. While working at Leim Sporting Goods Store, he obtained his masters degree from NSTC. They moved to Milbank in 1957, where he taught and coached for eight years. In 1965, they moved back to Aberdeen, where he taught and coached at the new Roncalli High School for four years. In 1969, with their six children, the family moved to Tucson, Ariz. He taught, coached and counseled until retirement in 1993.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Aloysius and Wilhelmina Engelhard; and brother, Dr. Warren E. Engelhard.

 He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeanette (Zick) Engelhard; six children: Rich (Leslie) Engelhard, Margaret Engelhard, Alan Engelhard, Kari (Joseph) Bush, all of Tucson; Kelly (Mike) Canfield of Sierra Vista and Jody (Tom) McDaniel of Flagstaff; 11 grandchildren; two nieces; and three nephews. Visitation was held in Tucson  at Evergreen Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013. Memorial Mass was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8650 N. Shannon Road, Tuscon.

 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Flowing Wells High School Alumni Association, 1556 W. Prince Road, Tucson, AZ 85705, in memory of Coach "Blackie" Engelhard. Arrangements were made by Evergreen Mortuary and Cemetery, Tuscon.

 Delores Irene Reitzel was born in Belgrade, Minn., to Henry and Bertha Reitzel. They moved to the Castlewood area when she was 1 year old. Delores graduated from Castlewood High School and Huron Nursing School.

 In 1957, she married Dick Schooley in Castlewood. They lived in several South Dakota towns, including Castlewood, Redfield, Sioux Falls, Howard and Leola before moving to Aberdeen in 1978. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and friends.

 She is survived by her husband, Dick; son, Daniel Schooley of Aurora, Colo.; daughter Diane (Wes) Schooley-Pettis of Boise, Idaho; granddaughter, Chantelle (Josh) Reid of Aurora, Colo.; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Amelia Reid of Aurora, Colo.; and two sisters: Bertha Shoop of Watertown and Gladys Curtis of Boulder, Colo.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; five brothers; and many nieces and nephews.

 Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Aberdeen: The memorial service for Kent Oliver, 75, of Aberdeen will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Spitzer Miller Funeral Home; 1111 S. Main St., in Aberdeen, with Pastor Tom Haggar officiating.

 Kent died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

 Kent Emerson Oliver was born April 16, 1937, to James and Thelma (Ingham) Oliver at their home in Aberdeen. This is the area where he grew up and attended school, graduating from Aberdeen Central High. Kent continued his education at Northern State College, then transferred to the University of Minnesota, where he earned his degree. Following college, Kent enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard.

 On June 7, 1969, Kent was united in marriage to JoAnn Fossum at First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen. One child, Daniel, was added to this union. They continued to live in Aberdeen, where Kent owned and operated Oliver Jobbing, selling auto parts and accessories. Kent enjoyed visiting with everyone and time spent with family.

 Grateful for having shared Kent's life are his wife, JoAnn Oliver; and son, Dan Oliver, both of Aberdeen.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Thelma Oliver; one infant child; and one sister, Gwendolyn Zerr.
