 Arlene Quist, 56, of Rapid City, S.D., and Helena, Mont., passed away early in the morning on Thursday, April 4 after a valiant fight with cancer.

 Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 Second Ave. N.E., Aberdeen, with Father J. Joseph Holzhauser officiating. Burial follows at St. Mary's Cemetery.

 Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., Aberdeen, is handling arrangements.

 Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, at the mortuary and one hour before Mass at the church on Tuesday. A liturgical wake and rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, at the mortuary. Friends may sign her online guestbook at schriversmemorial.com.

 Arlene was born on July 19, 1956, in Aberdeen, S.D., to Peter and Cecilia (Arntz) Hansen. She is preceded in death by her parents, and survived by her children: Danielle Quist and Pete Quist of Helena, Mont., and two sisters, Elizabeth Hansen of Aberdeen and Fran (Jim) Schaff of Watertown, S.D.

 Arlene was a strong, independent woman who took a great deal of pride and dignity in her work and career path. She received her associate's degree and bachelor of science degree from Northern State University in Aberdeen. After receiving her master of business administration from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion in 1987, she went on to become an assistant professor of business administration at Chadron State College in Chadron, Neb., for five years. She also taught at National College in Sioux Falls, S.D., and worked as an accountant for the Kinner Holmberg and Co Ltd in Flandreau, S.D., and the Holmberg firm in Slayton, Minn. She spent several years as the vice president of business at Oglala Lakota College on the Pine Ridge Reservation. During her time as vice president, she was nominated and received various awards for her dedication and contribution to improving the overall success of Oglala Lakota College.

 Arlene was not only an amazing career woman, but also a wonderful mother who was extremely devoted to her two children. She loved each of her children as much as any mother could ever love a child. She was always extremely supportive to her children and took them on various adventures to broaden their horizons.  

 She was a great role model and held various roles in the community, such as a Kiwanis Club member, soccer coach and Cub Scout Pack leader. Not only was Arlene a beloved mother, but she was also a sister and a friend to many.

 In lieu of flowers or food, the family would appreciate contributions to the American Cancer Society and/or the John T. Vucurevich Cancer Care Institute in Rapid City, S.D.

 Florence (Schaub) Krueger - former nurse, former Presentation sister, bride of Maurice Krueger and the beloved chronicler of her family - passed away on Thursday April 4, 2013, her 87th birthday.

 A wake service will be 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, and the funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ipswich. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

 Florence's life began in Belle Township, Edmunds County on April 4, 1926, as the daughter of farmers Frank and Anna (Polt) Schaub. After country school, Holy Cross parochial school and graduation from Ipswich High School in 1944, Florence entered Presentation School of Nursing, Nurse Cadet Corps, in Aberdeen and ultimately graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., with a bachelor of science in nursing.

 Florence was employed at St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen before entering the Presentation Convent as Sister Mary André, where she gave 22 years of faithful service. Her nursing occupation took her to Montana, to Sioux Falls, to director of nursing service at St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, to Administrator of Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen and, eventually, to Maryland, where she retired from nursing in 1978.

 Both Florence and her husband, Maurice Krueger, greatly enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay and the Intracoastal Waterway from Maryland to Florida. Then they returned to South Dakota in 1986, to live on Mina Lake. Their lives were active with the Aberdeen Computer Club, the Aberdeen Area Genealogical Society, the South Dakota Genealogical Society, the North Central Genealogical Society and the Irish-American Cultural Group. Florence was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 0067, and she was designated a member of the Special Honor Roll of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps.

 Grateful for having shared in her life are her twin sister, Fran Walz, of Springfield, Miss.; her sister, Ellen Wethington and her husband, Joe, of Minneapolis; her brother, Arthur Schaub and his wife, Charlotte, of Ipswich; her brother, Frank Schaub, of Aberdeen; her sister-in-law Helen (August) Schaub of Minneapolis; and a loving assembly of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Florence was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Mabel Kub; and her husband, Frank; her brother, Roger Schaub and his wife, Veronica; her brother, August Schaub; her sister, Clarann Schaub; her brother-in-law, Harold (Fran) Walz; and her sister-in-law, Marjory (Frank) Schaub.

 Margaret Delores Froke was born April 12, 1927, in Watertown, S.D. She grew up in the Watertown and Florence area, graduating from Florence High School in 1945. She then worked as a secretary for the Watertown Chamber of Commerce.

 Margaret married Merle Peter Froke on Jan. 5, 1952, in the Helgen Lutheran Church in rural Florence. She assisted Merle with rural mail delivery and was Merle's business partner in sales, including Froke Monument Service and the M & M Standard in Vienna. She was a loving housewife and devoted mother and grandmother. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, cooking, decorating her home, eating out and was an accomplished shopper.

 Margaret and Merle were longtime members of the Eastern Star. Merle passed away on Feb. 1, 2005.

 Margaret is survived by her children: Mark (Kathy) Froke of Vermillion, Marsha (Larry) Kucker of Sioux Falls, Marla (Ralph) Boynton of Gillette, Wyo., Bob Froke of Aberdeen, Doug (Coleen) Froke of Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Brad (Monica Muniz) Froke of Casper, Wyo.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her mother and her husband.
