Donna Mae Wagenmann Newell

Aberdeen: Funeral service for Donna Mae Wagenmann Newell, 65, Aberdeen, will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church, Aberdeen, with Pastor Tanya Rist officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Donna died on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

 Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, from 1 to 7 p.m., with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen.

 Donna Mae Wagenmann, daughter of Reinhold and Alma (Burrer) Wagenmann, was born on July 11, 1947, near Leola, S.D. She grew up in the Long Lake, S.D., area, where she attended country school. Donna moved with her family to Aberdeen in 1953, where she attended country school prior to Simmons Junior High and Aberdeen Central High School.

 Donna made her home for a short time in Minnesota prior to moving back to Aberdeen. She was united in marriage to Harold Newell on Dec. 23, 1977.  She went to work for Tiffany Laundromat and later began working as a waitress. Over the years, Donna worked at The Starlight, The Millstone, Hardee's and McDonalds.

 Donna was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. In her free time, she loved playing cards, board games and working on search word puzzles. She also enjoyed county western and polka music. Donna loved her family and cherished the time she was able to spend with all of them.

 Grateful for having shared Donna's life are her two brothers: Dean Wagenmann, Fort Dodge, Iowa; and Duane Wagenmann, Aberdeen; four sisters: Dianna (John) Way, Crystal, Minn.; Delila (Leland) Norton, Ipswich, S.D.; Delores Wagenmann, Aberdeen; and Debbie (Andy) Mendoza, Hanford, Calif.; many nieces, nephews and cousins; eight stepchildren and many stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

 Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Newell; her parents, Reinhold and Alma Wagenmann; five brothers: Allen, Leonard, Don, Dennis and David; and one sister, Darlene.
