Allen Walth was born on Dec. 18, 1938, in Hosmer to Edwin and Rose (Schilling) Walth. He moved to Aberdeen as a young child and attended Lincoln Elementary, Simmons Junior High and Aberdeen Central High School.
Allen was united in marriage to the love of his life, Angie Mitzel, on Oct. 22, 1960, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen. To this union, five children were born. Allen owned his own trucking business for more than 52 years and developed many special friendships on his travels, seeing the world through a windshield.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Club, SD Trucking Association and the Aberdeen Senior Center. He loved to go to the car races as a crew chief for his sons when they were racing and his granddaughter, Erin, at the go kart races. He was an avid bowler, when time permitted; a loyal fan of country music; a Vikings and NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt; and a true outdoorsmen, enjoying hunting and fishing until driving cross-country consumed his time.
Allen's greatest love in life was his wife, Angie, and his family. He taught his children the value of strong faith, hard work and good work ethics. Allen treasured being a grandpa to his 11 beautiful grandchildren. He loved every moment spent with them and never passed up a hug or kiss from them. He loved going to all their activities: basketball games, soccer games, football games, plays and hockey games or just playing cards or hanging out with them.
Allen was the beloved husband of 52 years to Angie Walth of Aberdeen; loving father of Rick Walth of Mina, Michelle Walth (special friend, Randy Weinzetl) of Brandon, Renee (Gary) Kneip of Sioux Falls and Jeff (Michelle) Walth of Aberdeen; grandpa of Jazmine (Matt) Diehl, Presley Walth, Ryman Walth, Taylor Kneip, Allie Kneip, Lucas Kneip, Erin Walth, Paige Walth, Jake Walth and Matt (Lydia) Walth; brother of Lawrence Walth of Groton, Wilbert Walth of Aberdeen, Mabel Tadlock of Ralston, Neb., Frank (Phyllis) Walth of Sioux Falls and Jim (Jolene) Walth of Omaha, Neb.; and uncle to many special nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his infant son, Allen Terry; his parents; and his father and mother-in-law, Lawrence F. and Cecelia (Johs) Mitzel.
