Mitchell: JoAnn A. Reff, 76, of Mitchell and formerly of Aberdeen and Mina Lake, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at North Central Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls.

 She was born Dec. 11, 1935.

 Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Valley City, N.D.

 Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home.

 Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Valley City.

 She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen: The funeral service for Constance "Connie" Kast, 85, of Aberdeen will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at North Highland United Methodist Church in Aberdeen. Pastor Mark Ehrmantraut will officiate.

 Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

 Connie passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

 Visitation will be 1-7 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., in Aberdeen.

 Constance "Connie" Louise Reiter was born March 14, 1927, in West Palm Beach, Fla., to Ralph LeRoy and Lilah (Retherford) Reiter. Her mother died when Connie was 6 and her stepmother, LeVaughn (Price) Reiter raised her. She grew up in Minneapolis, Minn., where she was educated and worked before her marriage.

 She was united in marriage to Delbert Monroe Kast on March 6, 1948, in Minneapolis. They farmed south of Seneca for 40 years. They raised their two daughters on the farm. They moved to Aberdeen, where their daughter, Laurie, and her husband, Larry, and children lived. Later, their other daughter, Marie and her children, moved to Aberdeen.

 Connie was very active in the church and she enjoyed singing in the choir in Seneca and Aberdeen. She was Secretary/Treasurer for many years in Seneca in the United Methodist Women's Society, as well as a Treasurer at North Highland United Methodist Church. She and her sister-in-law, Marilyn Kast Rusch, sang duets for funerals and other occasions in their church in Seneca.

 She loved to garden while living on the farm and raised flowers, vegetables and many strawberries each year. She and Delbert enjoyed dancing and camping at the River with friends. She also enjoyed writing letters and later going to her grandchildren's activities, emailing her friends, playing bridge at her bridge clubs and all kind of cards at the Aberdeen Area Senior Center and with her friends at the Carlyle. She volunteered 10 years at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, where she was an escort and made popcorn. She especially loved to walk on the beach in Florida. She loved going to exercise at the Washington Street Gym and coffee with the exercise girls.

 She is survived by her daughters: Laurie (Larry) Hadrick, Aberdeen and their children, Derek (Krista) Hadrick and great-granddaughter, Ashton of Harrisburg and Emily Hadrick of Brandon. Daughter Marie (Lonnie) Johnson of Grenville and her children, Tony Ness and great-grandchildren, Meiko and Mia Ness; Adrianne Ness and great-grandchildren children, Zavian, Traeh and Kavin all of Aberdeen and Merrell Ness II of Clearfield, Utah, and her sister, Noelle Baker of Indianapolis, Ind. As well as many nieces and nephews.

 She is preceded in death by her husband, Delbert, on Nov. 12, 2004; her brother, Ralph LeRoy Reiter; and her parents.

 Her family and friends will remember her spunk as well as her kind and loving heart. She had a great love for life and God. She will be truly missed.

Ramona M. Bale

Watertown: Ramona M. Bale, 79, of Watertown passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Golden Living Center after a brief hospitalization.

 Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Wight, Comes and Sogn Funeral Chapel in Watertown. The Rev. Kent Stillson will officiate.

 Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to the services.

 Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Watertown.

 Ramona Maria Bale was born May 6, 1933, to Maurice and Josephine (Parsley) Riley in Watertown. She attended Immaculate Conception School through the ninth grade and graduated from Watertown High School in 1951.

 Mona married Clayton Bale on Feb. 2, 1952, in Watertown. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Langenfeld's Dairy. In 1954, Mona and Clayton moved to Spokane, Wash., where she was employed as a cashier/bookkeeper for Silver Loaf Baking Co. In 1956, the couple moved to Minneapolis, where Mona was a bookkeeper for Erickson Petroleum Co. for eight years. Mona was then a stay-at-home mom for 12 years. In 1973, they moved to Aberdeen, and Mona was a bookkeeper and partner with her husband at Hub City Transit Co. They retired in September 1998 and returned to live at Lake Kampeska in Watertown. Clayton passed away June 17, 2012.

 Mona was always involved in her children's education and schools, and was president of the Aberdeen Central High School parent group in 1983. She enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage, doing crossword puzzles reading and spending her summers at the lake and the winters in the south. Mona especially enjoyed the times she spent with her grandsons.

 She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Elks Club in Aberdeen and Watertown and belonged to the Red Hatters in Watertown.

 Ramona is survived by her children: Stuart Bale (Isabelle Sodini) of Berkeley, Calif., and Sandy (Steve) Windingland of West Fargo, N.D.; two grandsons: Luke Windingland and Hugo Orlando Bale; her sister, Gloria Keith of St. Louis Park, Minn.; and two brothers: Maurice Riley Jr. of Portland, Ore., and Earl Popham Jr. of Estelline.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clayton, of 60 years; a sister, Audrey Friedl; and two brothers: David and James Riley.

Aberdeen: Mass of Christian burial for Mary Ann Darling (Brady) Fischer, 79, of Aberdeen will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 Third Ave. S.E., in Aberdeen, with Father Shane Stevens officiating.

 Burial will take place at the Hecla City Cemetery in Hecla.

 Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., in Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.

 Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary, with a liturgical wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to Mass at the church on Thursday.

 Mary Ann passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, surrounded by her family. Blessed be her memory.

 Mary Ann Darling Brady was born June 8, 1933, on her grandparents' farm near Hecla to Patrick "Elmer" and Evelyn (Schroeder) Brady. She attended country schools in the Hecla area and graduated from Hecla High School, where she was a track and basketball star. Following graduation, Mary Ann furthered her education at the Aberdeen School of Commerce. She then began employment with Socony-Vacuum and Oil Company.

 On May 14, 1955, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Andrew J. Fischer, whom she met at the King Pin Bowling Alley. On Sept. 14, 1963, Mary Ann gave birth to the first set of quintuplets to survive in the United States. While raising her family, Mary Ann baked cakes out of her home. She also worked at the Aberdeen YWCA Daycare and was a cook for the Senior Meals program. Mary Ann continued to make Aberdeen her home until the time of her death.

 Mary Ann was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen, the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary and Women of the Moose. She had a passion for bowling and served as a State and National Delegate for Women's Bowling, Secretary of the Octette Bowling League and President of the Aberdeen Women's Bowling Association. Mary Ann also enjoyed playing softball, darts, square dancing, gardening and canning. She was an excellent seamstress and sewed most of her children's clothes. She made two of her children's wedding dresses and most of her children's bridesmaid's dresses. Mary Ann especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities. She was a Girl Scout while growing up and was a Girl Scout Leader as an adult!

 Blessed to have shared Mary Ann's life are her sons: Dan (Carmen) Fischer of Aberdeen and Jim (Janet) Fischer of Fargo, N.D.; her daughters: Charlotte Burgard of Aberdeen, Julie (Kerry) Wilson of Westport, Evelyn (Mike) Johnson, Denise (Dan) Bahmuller, Annie (Pat) Hoerner and Maggie (Roy) Torres, all of Aberdeen, Cathy (Lonnie) Bales of Redfield, Margie (Tim Friddle) Walter of Phoenix, Ariz., and Cindy (Mike) Shorley of Aberdeen; one brother, Norbert Brady of Breckenridge, Minn.; one sister, Pearl (Vern) Zimbelman of Albany, Ore.; and one sister-in-law, Corky Brady of Oakes, N.D.; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

 She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Earl Brady.

Henry Huft and Donnis M. Huft

Bowdle: The funeral service for Henry Huft, 82, and his wife, Donnis M. Huft, 77, of Bowdle will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Zion Lutheran Church in Eureka. The Rev. Ryan Gage will lead the worship service.

 There will be no visitation.

 Burial will be at a later date at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

 Henry was born May 23, 1930, to Jacob and Johanna (Wald) Huft on a farm northwest of Bowdle. He attended country school and then worked on the family farm. He joined the U.S. Marine Corp on Jan. 11, 1952. He served overseas during the Korean War and was wounded in battle. Henry was honorably discharged in 1953.

 Donnis was born Jan. 22, 1935, to Frederick and Louise (Maier) Miller in Selby. She attended country school for a short time and then Selby Public School. Following her education, she worked at a hotel in Selby and for area families.

 The two were united in marriage on March 22, 1953. They made their first home in California, where Henry attended Barber College. They returned to South Dakota and eventually settled in Bowdle. Over the years, Henry worked many different jobs, from yard and garden work to over-the-road trucking and even road construction. Donnis worked for many years at Kramer Red Owl, where she helped with a little of everything, and also had been employed at the Bowdle Hospital.

 The two of them loved to travel and were often on the go. They had spent many winters in the south and summers camping and fishing around the area. They loved to go to area dances and to play cards with friends and family. They enjoyed any chance to visit with friends along their journeys.

 Even though they did almost everything together and wouldn't often be seen apart, they each were involved in a personal way with separate interests. Henry was a longtime member of the American Legion while Donnis enjoyed being a part of the church ladies auxiliary. Each of them also had their own hobbies, although those hobbies often intertwined. While Donnis would spend hours baking and gardening, Henry could be found tinkering on projects.

 Henry and Donnis died together in a traffic accident near Ipswich on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012.

 They are survived by their children: Carol (Dane) Aldinger of Gillette, Wyo., Michael (Jan) Huft of Brandon, Cynthia (Pat) Gab of Eureka, Gregory (Therese Lerew) Huft of Aberdeen, Debra (Pat) Mehlhaff of Eureka and Kristin (George) Wester of Pierre; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

 They are also survived by Henry's brothers and sisters: Philip Huft of Roscoe, Helen Bieber of Mobridge, Josephine Schmidtgall of Mobridge and Tillie Eisenbeisz of Aberdeen; Donnis' sisters: Janice (Ray) Sandmeier of Mobridge, Joyce (Bob) VanOrman of Mobridge and Judy (Fred) Badury of Davenport, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

 They were preceded in death by their parents; Donnis' brother, Palmer; Henry's brothers: Adam, David and Jacob; and his sister, Mary Sandmeier.

 Hilda Wahl, daughter to William and Emma (Werre) Schneider, Hilda was born Oct. 26, 1927. As she grew up, she went to country grade school and graduated from Java High School. She went to Northern State College to get her teaching degree. She taught at Campbell, Walworth, and McPherson County schools for many years.

 Hilda married Merle E. Wahl on Sept. 8, 1950. They lived on the Wahl Homestead just 10 miles south of Mound City. When they retired from the farm, they moved to Mobridge, were they lived for 17 years. During those 17 years, Hilda worked at the Selby Nursing Home for several years. When she left there, she went to work at the Mobridge Nursing Home for awhile and then to Burger King as a greeter. After her various jobs, she dedicated her life to taking care of Merle and her home. In March 2012, they moved to Aberdeen on a small hobby farm with their son Eldon and Jane.

 Hilda loved to garden, go on trips, play cards, cook and bake for large groups. She was known for her homemade pickles and German cooking. She was a member of TLCW, which serves many missions throughout the community. She loved the Lord.

 Hilda is survived by her husband, Merle; son, Eldon (Jane Ohlde) Wahl; three brothers: Vernard (Ella) Schneider, Ervin (Babe) Schneider and Delbert (Joan) Schneider; two sisters: Meta Lang and Della (Leland) Berndt; two grandchildren: Chad Ohlde and Samantha  (John) Hettich; three great-grandchildren: Jason Ohlde, Taryn Hettich and and Nickolas Nilson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Emma Schneider; and one brother, Raymond Schneider.

 Amelia (Mae) Kallas was born May 30, 1923, in Leola to Nick and Philipine (Geffre) Kline.

 She was united in marriage to Leo Kallas on Oct. 17, 1944. They made their home at the Kallas Homestead in Leola before moving to Mason City, Iowa, where they lived for nine years. The family moved to Aberdeen in 1964. Mae and Leo shared 67 years of marriage and were blessed with six wonderful children before Leo passed away on May 14, 2012. Mae continued to make Aberdeen her home until the time of her death.

 Mae was very dedicated in her love for art and reading. She attended art classes in Aberdeen and Fargo, N.D. Mae enjoyed traveling and attending Neo Life conventions with her husband, Leo. She also enjoyed visiting relatives and friends.

 Mae is survived by her children: Karen (Jim) Steidl of Fargo, N.D., Kathy (Jim) Thomson of St. Louis, Mo., Lee and (Trish) Kallas of Boca Raton, Fla., Lenn (Gayle) Kallas of Watertown, and Lance (Lynn) Kallas of Aberdeen; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters: Adeline (Ken) Lapka, Dorothy (Art) Heinrich and Dianne (Jerry) Heagley; and one brother, Gene (Jeanette) Kline.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her parents, Nick and Philipine Kline; one daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Rod Schuster; and one sister, Marie Scheele.

Conde: Funeral services for Theresa Leingang, 49, of Conde will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at the CM&A Church in Groton. The Rev. Bill Duncan will officiate.

 Theresa was taken from us prematurely after a long battle with cancer. She passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at home in the company of her loved ones.

 Theresa Lynn Leingang was born March 18, 1963, in Mandan, N.D., to Leonard and Katherine (Roshau) Leingang. She attended high school in Mandan, graduating in 1981. Theresa continued her education, studying fine arts in Minnesota and Arizona.

 On Dec. 30, 1988, she was united in marriage with Randy Geary. Together, they made their home in Mandan for 22 years, prior to moving to Conde.

 Terry had a love for life, was a talented artist and a collector of many things. She enjoyed art of all mediums, American Indian culture and art, fashion, home decorating, gardening and spending time with her friends and family. Terry had an unconditional love for underprivileged/ troubled children. She had a kind heart, loved all animals and leaves behind her special canine friend, Kiesha.

 Celebrating her life are her parents, Leonard and Katherine Leingang of Mandan; her siblings: Curtis (Paulette) Leingang of Mandan, Richard (Marcia) Leingang of Osceola, Iowa, Leonard Jr. (Michelle) Leingang of Mandan and Dawn Marie (John) Clooten of  Bismarck, N.D.; and seven nephews and nieces. Theresa is also survived by her life companion of 24 years, Randy Geary of Conde and his daughters: Mandy (Drew) Ballew and Malory (Charlie) Sadler, both of Casper, Wyo.; and two grandsons, Jack and Quade.

 Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Frank and Anna Roshau and Joseph and Ida Leingang.

 Casketbearers will be her nephews: Tyler Leingang, Richard Leingang, Jacob Leingang, Blake Geary, Zach Geary, Tanner Geary and Kelly Dalton.
